Get yourself a goodly sprig of mint, and a slice of cucumber, and muddle both well in the bottom of a decent-sized drinking vessel. A coffee mug would do in a pinch, but a highball glass will be insufficient.
Place in the vessel three or four cubes of ice.
Add to these 2 oz of decent gin, about 4 oz of good tonic water, and either a goodly squeeze of lime or a splash of the Rose's Lime Cordial (or whatever you call it in the US).
You may, if you wish, garnish with more mint or a slice of cucumber. Or you may save them for the next one.
Look at you with that in your hand. You are now sensational.
